Who We Are

The idea of AlaskaLax was born in Seattle, Washington, where Swedes Hakan Olsson and Magnus Larsson moved to pursue corporate careers.   It wasn’t long before they experienced the ‘taste of the wild’ and they both had the same reaction — there’s nothing like this in Sweden!

Seattle:

Håkan Olsson (hakano@alaskalax.com)
Håkan was born in Oxelösund, Sweden and moved to Seattle in 1998 to pursue his career at Microsoft.   Within a few months, he met another transplant — his “Wyoming Cowgirl” Kim — and together they’ve made Seattle home.  Between its mountains for paragliding and skiing, its archipelago for boating and lakes for Kitesurfing it’s quite an incredible place to live. Rain? Sure.  But there’s lots of cool rain gear to buy here!  And quite often when it rains in Seattle it snows in the mountains –  just an hour away.  Cold?  Sometimes.   But the seafood makes it totally worth it!

Kim Olsson (kimo@alaskalax.com) and Beemer (too noble for email)
Raised in Casper, Wyoming, Kim moved to Seattle in 1999 to pursue her professional career in Marketing Communications at T-Mobile (then VoiceStream).  Kim enjoys the wild Alaska seafood almost as much as Beemer — their six year old Shiba Inu.   When salmon’s on the menu, he’s right by their side, waiting to get a piece of the action.  Spoiled rotten in other words…

Sweden:

Magnus Larsson (magnusl@alaskalax.com) and Agneta Larsson (agnetal@alaskalax.com) moved back to Stockholm, Sweden, in 2010 after 12 years in Seattle.

Raising 3 girls (4 incl. Beemer’s friend chocolate lab Elsa), they wanted to give the girls a chance to experience Sweden in all its glory before they got too old. Moving back made them realize that wild seafood is something that Swedes (i.e. them) should have access too as well. So, here we are…
